Titans Embattled QB Returns

Will Levis is finally set to return as the Tennessee Titans starting QB as announced by Coach Callahan earlier this week. The second-year QB out of Kentucky started the first five games for the Titans before ultimately being sidelined by a Grade-II AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. Levis received the injury after taking a brutal hit early in the Titans’ road win against the Miami Dolphins, causing him to miss the majority of the game. Being a gutsy player Levis attempted to play through the injury the following week against the Colts, but after amassing less than 100 yards through four quarters of play, it was evident that he just wasn’t healthy enough to play and Callahan made the decision to go with Rudolph until Levis could come back at full strength.

QB Controversy?

After the Titans less than stellar start many fans were already calling for a potential QB change knowing that Rudolph could offer a stable veteran presence on a team that looked like it was built to succeed. The injury to Levis gave those fans exactly what they asked for as Rudolph started the last three weeks for the Titans, but the offense has yet to really see any improvement after the change. Now the Titans return to Levis who gives them a notably higher ceiling, while also providing a much lower floor, and a large portion of the fanbase would rather ride Rudolph, especially after both the team’s wins have come in games he played the majority of the snaps, than return to rollercoaster offense that Levis provides.

What Levis Brings to the Table

Levis came into this season known for his big arm and knack for making big plays. He is also a player who plays with an intense competitiveness that can be seen in the way he constantly puts his body on the line to try to make every play possible. So far this season Levis has been unable to conjure those big plays that made fans of the franchise think he could be their long-term answer at the position, instead, he has replaced those plays with some of the most puzzling turnovers in the NFL this season. Will needs to show something with this second chance he’s been given this season or Tennessee will be trotting out a new QB next season.
