The Tennessee Titans will look to make it to the playoffs this season after missing the playoffs the last two years. After the conclusion of the 2023 season, the Titans decided to part ways with former head coach Mike Vrabel.
Tennessee decided to hire Brian Callahan as the new head coach in the offseason. He was the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator last season. Callahan has helped develop Joe Burrow into an elite quarterback and also made Jake Browning look very good when Burrow went down with an injury last season. Brian Callahan will look to help Will Levis become a very good quarterback this season.
Tennessee Titans Release Former First-Round Pick Cornerback Caleb Farley
According to a source that told ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tennessee Titans released cornerback Caleb Farley from the 53-man roster. He was a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. Former Titans general manager Jon Robinson was responsible for drafting him.
Farley was a major draft bust because of injuries. In the previous season, the Titans selected offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was from Georgia and was also a massive bust. Those were back-to-back misses by the general manager. He also traded away wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles on draft night a couple of years ago.
Caleb Farley has a small sample size of stats in his NFL career. He has 14 total tackles and one pass deflections. Farley has no interceptions and is 25 years old.
New York Giants Could Be a Team Who Takes a Chance On Him
The New York Giants defensive coordinator for this year is Shane Bowen. He was the former defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans and Farley knows his system well. Despite the injury issues in the past, the Giants have massive issues at the cornerback position outside of Deonte Banks.
They released Darnay Holmes on Tuesday and made other moves at cornerback. Cor’Dale Flott and Dru Phillips are projected to be the other starting cornerbacks on the roster, but Caleb Farley could maybe use a change of scenery to revive his career.
The Tennessee Titans’ backend of the defense has also had issues in the past. It will be interesting to see whether the New York Giants or another NFL team takes a flyer on the former Virginia Tech Hokies player.
