Tragedy struck on Monday after the home of Tennessee Titans CB Caleb Farley exploded. One person was reportedly killed in the shocking accident, and the victim happens to be Farley’s own dad, Robert Matthews Farley.
Father of Titans’ Caleb Farley Dies in Explosion
According to a report by TMZ Sports, Farley’s home in North Carolina exploded overnight. The Titans’ young CB was not in the house when it happened but unfortunately, his father and his cousin were:
“A massive explosion at a North Carolina home belonging to NFL defensive back Caleb Farley has left one person dead … and another injured.
“The incident happened overnight Monday in Mooresville, N.C. — leveling a multi-million dollar property that, according to multiple reports, Farley had just purchased recently,” read the report.
Christian Rogers, Farley’s cousin, was reportedly the other victim in the explosion. He was rushed to the hospital after the accident but was assessed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries, per director of Fire Services and Emergency Management for Iredell Kent Greene.
It is unclear what caused the explosion, but there is reportedly some suspicion that it had something to do with the home’s natural gas line. Farley was reportedly spotted at the scene speaking to authorities on Tuesday amid the investigation.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Caleb Farley and his family in this tragic time.
Caleb Farley Looking to Make Mark in 2023
Scooped up by the Titans as the 22nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, there’s no denying that Farley has a ton of untapped potential. Unfortunately, injuries have gotten in the way of this young man’s career. In his first two years in Tennessee, the former Virginia Tech standout has played just 12 games combined.
Farley is now hoping to make his mark on the league this coming season. He remains one of the most promising young cornerbacks in the NFL, and so long as he is able to stay healthy, the 6-foot-2, 197-pound stud could prove to be a difference-maker for the Titans.
