The TCU Horned Frogs did not see the success in 2023 that they did in 2022. After appearing in the national championship, they went 5-7 which was good for 10th in the Big 12. Their talent pool took a hit today when wide receiver Cordale Russell decided to enter the transfer portal.

TCU WR Cordale Russell Enters Transfer Portal
Russell was ranked in the top 100 by multiple sites and was a great get for the Horned Frogs. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver out of Texas had 23 offers. Apparently, he was hoping for the team to be more competitive. He had this to say in a statement.
First and foremost I want to thank the man above. Without him I’m nothing. I would also like to thank Coach Dykes and the rest of the TCU coach staff for giving me an opportunity to play the game I love, at the next level. I’m grateful for all the memories and the brotherhood that I’ve made this past year. But after sitting down and talking with family and coaches I have made my decision to officially enter my name into the transfer portal.
Thank You Frog Nation
Lots Of Player Movement
The number of 2023 recruits that have entered the portal this week is mind-boggling. These are players that just last year had numerous offers, made a decision, and have now changed their minds. This is the nature of the college football landscape right now. It isn’t enough to simply get recruits to come to the program. Programs now have to try and keep players happy in order to keep them in the building. Russell was most likely hoping that the Horned Frogs would continue to be atop the Big 12 but that was not the case.
Russell is one of many talented wide receivers to enter the transfer portal. There is no shortage of talent in the portal and it will be interesting to see where everyone ends up.
