Football season is back and with the return of the Kansas City Chiefs comes the return of pop star Taylor Swift.
Swift, the girlfriend of star Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is once again finding herself at the forefront of the NFL world as the Chiefs kick off the NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
Taylor Swift will attend the Kansas City Chiefs’ week one game
One reason many fans are already sick of Taylor Swift before the 2024 season has even started is because, according to the New York Times, it is now confirmed that she will be attending the Chiefs’ week one matchup with the Ravens.
Swift got under the skin of many NFL fans in the 2023 season for commanding too much air time during Chiefs games. Fans would complain that the broadcast would cut to her after a touchdown or a big play rather than someone on the field or someone who is at least a member of the organization.
Regardless, Swift’s presence continued to command eyes as the NFL season went on until the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, where images and videos of her and Kelce embracing defined another miserable season for the rest of the NFL.
While Swift herself doesn’t decide where the camera goes during an NFL broadcast, many fans are taking their frustrations out on her as they believe she does not belong at the forefront of NFL storylines.
Many fans don’t seem to be upset with Swift personally, per se, but they are overall tired of the storyline that defined the Chiefs’ 2023 Super Bowl run.

Taylor Swift isn’t just in the news for showing up to the Kansas City Chiefs first game of the season
Swift isn’t just dominating the last news cycle before the beginning of the regular season because she is simply showing up to the Chiefs’ week one game against the Ravens.
She has been in the news for several other reasons. She was featured in an official NFL hype video more than any other player in the league, causing a stir amongst NFL fans.

Swift was also in the news because documents alleging her and Kelce’s relationship is a PR stunt were leaked. This came right after stories broke of her “drawing up plays” for Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes joking that they might have to use those plays.
The documents even had a predetermined “breakup date,” but Kelce’s PR firm has adamantly denied the validity of said documents in an article from Rolling Stone.
“These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued, or authorized by this agency,” a Full Scope spokesperson said. “We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents.”
Whether the documents are true is irrelevant to a lot of NFL fans, they are simply upset with the fact that they are being subjected to news about Swift at all.
Given the content of the NFL’s preseason hype video, those fans will not be happy with the amount of Taylor Swift shown during the Thursday night broadcast.
