Some NFL fans are starting a campaign to get football viewers to boycott the league following a controversial decision during Thursday night’s pregame performance at Arrowhead Stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off the league’s first game of the season in a 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
The opening game was exciting
The game was exciting all through the night. The finish was spectacular, as the game ended with an apparently controversial incompletion call in the endzone that would have given the Ravens a chance to win the game on a two-point conversion.
The theatrics started before the kickoff. Fans took to social media to roast Coco Jones for her performance of the National Anthem. However, it was the singing of another song that had many fan’s blood boiling before the game.
A Controversial song
Tasha Cobbs Leonard sang the “Lift Every Voice and Sing” during the pregame. The song is better known as the black national anthem. The song has been played before NFL games before and has caused a stir on social media.
Jemele Hill with The Athletic posted about the outrage on X:
So every year we just have to go through this thing where some white people get ridiculously angry upon discovering 1) that a Black national anthem exists 2) that the NFL has been playing it for years at the start of the season.
NFL fans call for a boycott of the league
Many fans don’t want “Lift Every Voice and Sing” to be played before league games. Numerous posts on X had “boycott the NFL” not long after Tasha Cobbs Leonard sang the black national anthem.

I can’t believe that some people I know get outraged over this and complain about this and still continue to watch the NFL and other major sports! They will continue to do this shit as long as you continue to watch and support them because you are making them profits! Boycott !!
