The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ elite left tackle, Tristan Wirfs, had a great 2024 campaign despite battling a knee injury midway through the season. He allowed 12 pressures, one quarterback hit, and zero sacks in 16 starts, earning his fourth Pro Bowl and second First-Team All-Pro selection. Wirfs suffered a low-grade MCL sprain in his left knee in Week 10 and missed one game, Week 12.

At some point during the offseason, Tristan Wirfs suffered a right knee injury, which caused him to miss OTAs and the first two days of mandatory minicamp. During Monday’s press conference, Todd Bowles provided an injury update on Tristan Wirfs via Andrew Harbaugh of Bucs Wire. The head coach shared that the elite left tackle is being held out of mandatory minicamp for precautionary reasons and isn’t overly concerned about him wearing a brace on his right knee. Bowles expects Wirfs to be ready for training camp, which begins in late July.
“It’s precautionary. It’s the offseason,” Bowles said via Harbaugh. “He’ll be fine in training camp.”
Who replaces him for the time being?

Charlie Heck will replace the All-Pro as the starting left tackle in mandatory minicamp. He spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Houston Texans and spent 2024 with the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. Heck has started 23 career games throughout his five seasons and will compete for the swing tackle position.
