The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the biggest disappointments this season as they opened the year 5-1, but failed to make the playoffs. With the offense being a big concern as they struggled to be consistent on that side of the field in the second half of the season, the team decided to fire offensive coordinator Josh Gizzard after one season. There are a lot of intriguing names that are getting interviews, but the Bucs have interviewed a former head coach from the past year. Let’s take a closer look at who he is and what he could do if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign him.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Interview Mike McDaniel

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers interviewed former Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel for their open offensive coordinator position on Friday. McDaniel has been one of the busiest people in the coaching circles as he has already interviewed with four teams (Falcons, Browns, Titans, Rams) as a head coach while also talking with the Lions for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
McDaniel has experience leading an offense as he was the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers under Kyle Shanahan before becoming the coach of the Dolphins. Even as the coach for the Dolphins, he would call the offensive plays. During his four seasons in Miami, the team was eighth in passing yards per game (232.8), sixth in yards per rushing attempt (4.54), and 12th in points (23.3).
With the offensive weapons that the Bucs have on their roster, this would be intriguing to see. Tampa Bay has also interviewed six others for the vacancy as well, which are listed below:
- Todd Monken
- Mike Kafka
- Brian Callahan
- David Shaw
- Israel Woolfork
- Zac Robinson
