Even though he hasn’t played in the NFL for long, offensive tackle Luke Goedeke still believes he has a lot to offer on the field. Even with all the challenges ahead, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers star isn’t fazed with the work that needs to be done.
Goedeke’s path to the NFL was an unconventional one. He began his college football career at Division III Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he played tight end after initially thinking he was done with the sport due to injuries in high school. He later transferred to Central Michigan, redshirting in 2018 before establishing himself as the team’s starting right tackle in 2019.
After missing the 2020 season due to a knee injury, the future Buccs’ offensive tackle bounced back with a strong 2021 campaign, earning first-team All-MAC honors. This performance led to his selection in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers.

Heading into his sophomore season, Goedeke was determined to prove he could be a starting offensive lineman in the NFL. He transitioned back to his natural right tackle position after struggling at left guard as a rookie, and he exceeded expectations with an impressive performance that solidified his place on the Buccaneers’ offensive line.

The offensive tackle made significant strides in his second season with Tampa Bay. In the passing game, he effectively handled numerous talented pass rushers, showcasing his ability to keep them in check. He also displayed more comfort and tenacity in the running game, as exemplified by his performance against Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Heading into the upcoming season, Goedeke is eager to play in the new offensive coordinator’s system, which emphasizes the importance of a strong, hard-fought running game. With his improved play and the team’s commitment to establishing the ground attack, the offensive tackle is poised to continue his development as a key member of the Buccaneers’ roster.
