Mike Evans has played 11 seasons in the NFL so far in his pro career. Each of those seasons ended in a 1,000-yard campaign for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers veteran wide receiver.

With that, he tied  NFL legend Jerry Rice’s record for longest straight 1,000-yard seasons in the NFL.

Evans achieved that mark when he posted 1,004 receiving yards in 14 games to go along with 11 touchdowns on 74 receptions and 110 targets in the 2024 campaign.

It came down to the wire for Evans in his pursuit to join Rice in that club, as he managed to get to 1,000 yards last season in the Buccaneers’ regular-season finale versus the New Orleans Saints at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Evans caught a pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield with under a minute left in regulation to tie Rice, who played in the NFL from 1985 to 2004.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Evans isn’t giving tying Rice’s record much thought

Evans, who is also the Buccaneers’ all-time leading scorer, also needs to have three more 1,000-yard seasons in the NFL to tie Rice’s all-time record of 14 such years in the league. The 31-year-old Evans surely wants to reach that mark and surpass it one day, but said that he’s not one to get ahead of himself.

“I can’t really think that far ahead, because after the season is when I really get an understanding of where I’m at, like physically and mentally,” Evans explained during a recent appearance on the Cold as Balls show hosted by Kevin Hart.

As for his chances to extend his streak in 2025, Evans has a good reason to believe he can get another 1,000-yard season. For one, the Buccaneers have a high-flying attack with Baker Mayfield at the helm of the offense, which finished the 2024 campaign fourth in the NFL with an average of 29.0 points per game.
