The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have mandatory minicamp from Tuesday to Thursday before a month-long break. Unlike OTAs, minicamp requires attendance, and a massive fine ensues if a player has an unexcused absence. Players will be fined $17,462 for skipping Day 1, $34,925 for Day 2, and $52,381 for Day 3, totaling $104,768 for all three days.
All eyes were on their free-agent acquisition.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowler has a history of holding out
Haason Reddick held out for the entirety of mandatory minicamp and training camp last offseason with the New York Jets. The holdout lasted until Week 8 of the regular season. When he returned, Reddick was very rusty and not an effective pass rusher, recording 14 tackles, two TFLs, three quarterback hits, one sack, and one forced fumble in ten games and two starts.
The two-time Pro Bowler attended the voluntary workout program but sat out of voluntary OTAs. Todd Bowles wasn’t very concerned about him missing OTAs and expected him to show up at some point.
“I’m excited to see him [eventually],” Bowles told the Pewter Report podcast. “Again, all this is voluntary; he’s not the only one that’s not here, but I know he’s working out and he’s working hard, so when he gets here we’ll be excited to have him.”

As Rapoport points out, the polarizing Pro Bowl pass rusher is expected to participate in mandatory minicamp. As a result, Reddick looks to avoid a replication of last offseason’s fines and save $104,768.
