The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the lead in the NFC South standings entering Sunday night’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Tampa Bay needed a win to stay in first place in the division after the Atlanta Falcons defeated the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon.
The Buccaneers lost on the road against the Dallas Cowboys by a final score of 26-24. With the loss, Tampa Bay dropped to 8-7 and out of a playoff spot in the NFC. Atlanta is also 8-7 in the NFC South, but the Falcons own the tiebreaker over the Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Loss Comes At the Dallas Cowboys With Dallas Being Eliminated Before Kickoff
Before the game started, the Cowboys were already eliminated from playoff contention. Dallas still played with a ton of pride for head coach Mike McCarthy and they improved to 7-8 on the season. Cooper Rush played well against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. Rush completed 26-of-35 passes for 292 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions.
Baker Mayfield in the game for Tampa Bay had completed 31-of-43 passes for 303 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. It was a good game for the viewers. This was a bad loss for the Buccaneers and this win didn’t affect the Cowboys in any way.

It is crazy that the Buccaneers fanbase is calling for Todd Bowles to be fired. They might be saying this because they want to promote offensive coordinator Liam Cohen, who could very well be a head coach elsewhere next season. Tampa Bay has won the division for the last two seasons under Bowles.
They still have a chance to win the division this season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to win its games down the stretch and hope the Atlanta Falcons lose at least once. Tampa Bay’s next game will be against the Carolina Panthers (4-11).
