The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass rush has been inconsistent despite ranking seventh in pressures and tied for eleventh in sacks this season. The Buccaneers’ EDGE rushers/outside linebackers have struggled to rush the passer this season as the unit combined for eight sacks. Finally, as Collin Haalboom of Sports Illustrated points out, the pass rush has struggled to consistently rush the passer without utilizing exotic blitzes or blitz packages.
“Tampa Bay’s inability to pressure opposing quarterbacks without running exotic games or blitz packages has proven to be problematic, and the secondary simply hasn’t been healthy enough to hold up behind a group that can’t generate much of a pass rush without sending extra defenders,” Haalboom said.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers reunited with a Super Bowl champion
On X, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced they have reunited with Shaq Barrett. Barrett spent five seasons (2019 to 2023) with the Buccaneers, registering 45 sacks, making it to two Pro Bowl selections, and winning a Super Bowl during the 2020-21 season.

The Pro Bowler retired but unretired
Shaq Barrett signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins but retired before the start of training camp. Barrett attempted to unretire in late November, but the Dolphins at the time declined to activate him from the reserve/retired list. The Dolphins changed their tune on Thursday and granted his wish by waiving him. He had to clear waivers to be eligible to return to the football season for 2024, or else he would be ineligible to play if a team claimed him.
