Sunday night football shows the best of the best with drama and action from both teams. Last night was something a complete nightmare for the 49ers and Broncos offenses. In the game last night, the 49ers offense had only scored ten points in primetime. San Francisco and the Denver Broncos had the best team defenses, while both offenses produced only twenty-one points. The Niners lost to the Broncos because their offense was ineffective throughout the night. Some of the takeaways from this game is that the Niners’ offense without Mike McDaniel is complete mediocrity. Another takeaway is that the defense is solid and could carry the team if the offense performs well. The last takeaway from this game is that Jimmy Garoppolo is the least of their problem in QB depth. The San Francisco 49ers had many chances to take down a poor Denver Broncos team, but these problems cost them in the end.
The Offensive Problem for San Francisco
The San Francisco 49ers offense is packed, with talent and skills, with headline stars like Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. This offense with the right coordinator can become an excellent offense, but it did show up last night. Last year’s offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel is now the Miami Dolphins head coach. The Niners before, the season, praise McDaniels and his scheming. San Francisco only provided ten points in last night’s game, and if this continues against better teams, it will be rough. The offense didn’t look good, with little to no gadget plays going well. This offense can be much better but needs to improve to have a successful season.
The Good for San Francisco
Even in the loss, the Niners have a solid defense that held the Broncos down to only eleven points. The Niners’ defense holds the Denver Broncos down to only 261 yards. This defense is solid, if not one of the best, this year, with Nick Bosa and Fred Warner leading the pack. The Broncos only won this game despite themselves, with the 49ers’ flaws wearing them down more. San Francisco’s defense did its best against a rough opponent, but the offense did not deliver.
The 49ers Jimmy G problem
A final takeaway from this game is that Jimmy Garoppolo is the QB that will take them anywhere. The quarterback depth was concerning before the season because Jimmy Garoppolo was awful last night. Garoppolo is not good, and it shows last night with Jimmy running outside his team’s endzone, making Dan Orlovsky look good. At least the 2008 Lions were terrible; the 2022 San Francisco 49ers are trying to be playoff contenders. Garoppolo was awful, and it cost his team a win that could look awful come December. Having an 18/29 with one touchdown and interception with a QB rating of 14.2 should show Jimmy G, not the guy. Garoppolo, while a decent quarterback when he’s needed, was not there and was exposed to a good Broncos defense. The game ends with Jimmy G throwing a game-ending interception to end the night.
Can the Niners turn it around?
The 49ers had many chances to take down the Denver Broncos but could not due to their problems costing them a game. A poor offensive performance from the team shows that Mike Mcdaniel’s game plan is sorely missing. The Niners’ defense was playing their heart out by limiting the Broncos but, in the end, lost. Another critical reason the 49ers lost was Jimmy Garoppolo’s poor performance in the game, and making bad decisions cost them an important game. The 49ers can turn this season around but will need to fix their game plan, or it will be a lost season.
