Syracuse has been one of the surprise teams this season, starting the year with a 2-0 record and a big win against Georgia Tech two weeks ago.
The Orange brought in Ohio State transfer quack Kyle McCord this offseason, and through the first two games, he has looked like one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
On Friday night, Syracuse resumed its 2024 season after its bye week. It is hosting Stanford, the new ACC rival, who joined the conference this season.
Stanford is expected to be one of the worst power teams this season, and the Orange should be able to take care of them. However, the Cardinal has a different plan. Currently, at halftime, Stanford leads 13-10 over Syracuse.
Syracuse Can’t Lose To Stanford
There is no way Syracuse can drop their game to Stanford and still think they have a chance to win the ACC and make the college football playoff.
The ACC has Miami and Clemson in it, and both of those schools are expected to play in the ACC title, but Syracuse only has to play the Hurricanes this season, and they avoid the Tigers, so they only have to go through one of the difficult ACC teams.
The Oranges have a pretty easy ACC schedule and could win every game they play in the conference besides Miami. If they somehow go 11-1, they will be in the conversation for an at-large bid in the college football playoffs.
If Syracuse does fall to Stafanford, then their season is over, and there will be no way to bounce back from it because they aren’t winning the ACC, and they will have a terrible loss.
The Orange must do everything possible to bounce back in the second half and pick up the win.
