The eyes of Las Vegas Raiders fans are on the Kansas City Chiefs as they prepare to compete for Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium. The AFC West rivals share a rich history, and the fact that they’re playing at their home stadium already has some fans frothing at their mouths.
The thought of their rivals winning the Super Bowl on their home turf is already insufferable to some of them. However, there’s one statistic that may send shivers down the spine of the more superstitious bunch of the fandom.
Kansas City Chiefs might win Super Bowl LVIII off Allegiant Stadium record
Forbes’ Jeff Fedotin reported that the Chiefs have never lost a game at Allegiant Stadium ever since it was opened as the home of the Raiders in 2020. They won all of the four games they’ve played in the stadium so far.
Even some of the Chiefs players and staff can’t sop gushing about the place as if it was home:
“It’s called Arrowhead West for a reason,” Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling said. “We’ve been playing really well here, and I’m just super excited to be back in a place that’s familiar to us.”
“We’ve never lost in Vegas,” Kelce said. “And that’s the bottom line.”
“The stadium is beautiful. The all black is nice,” wide receiver Mecole Hardman said. “You can’t go wrong with playing here.”
Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna reflected on the environs while standing on the Allegiant field.
“It’s something about coming to Vegas, man,” he said. “We like the stadium. We play good here, and it’s another opportunity to play here on Sunday.”
There is a popular story about a Chiefs fan who worked as a construction worker in the stadium burying a Chiefs flag under the stadium, which effectively jinxed the Raiders against his team.
However, there’s more to that story than just the Raiders being jinxed. They haven’t fielded strong enough teams that can match the Chiefs no matter how hard they try, and their rivals participating in Super Bowl LVIII is proof of that.
In a game as big as Super Bowl LVIII, every single advantage can spell the difference between victory and defeat. The Chiefs’ familiarity with the stadium might be the extra push they need to crush the San Francisco 49ers and win their third Super Bowl ring.
