From 2021 to 2022, the Georgia football program had an impressive record of 29-1, including going undefeated in SEC play. The Georgia Bulldogs also won back-to-back College Football Playoff title games during this time. Leading the Bulldogs was Stetson Bennett, who started as a walk-on and later became the team’s starting quarterback. Bennett, who is from Atlanta, was named the Offensive MVP of the CFP National Championship Game twice, making him the only college football player to win the award twice. Despite his success in college, Bennett was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.
After emerging on the reserve/non-football illness list circa mid-September, Bennett did not appear in his rookie season. Bennett and the Rams announced his return to football earlier this offseason, with the Georgia product primed to make his preseason debut on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. The 26-year-old earned all of Los Angeles’ snaps at quarterback, with Bennett throwing the game-winning touchdown with eleven seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. However, Bennett tossed four picks before the game-winner, with Twitter (also known as X) clowning the two-time CFP title winner for his performance.
Fans React: Los Angeles Rams QB Stetson Bennett Throws Four Picks
On Sunday, in an NFL preseason standalone game, former Georgia Bulldogs legend Stetson Bennett played the entirety of the Los Angeles Rams’ preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Bennett led Los Angeles on a field goal drive to open the game before tossing an interception to end his team’s second drive abruptly. After another field goal drive to begin the second quarter, Bennett flung his second interception with 35 seconds left until halftime. The Rams were on the Dallas 19-yard line. Bennett threw his third interception on the Rams’ second drive of the third quarter before hurling a fourth pick in the second drive of the fourth quarter.

However, despite the four-interception affair, Bennett and the Rams received the football trailing 13-12 with nearly three minutes remaining in regulation. Bennett led Los Angeles on a 13-play, 69-yard game-winning driving, concluding with a game-winning touchdown strike to tight end Miller Forristall. Albeit the leader of a game-winning drive, Twitter, also known as X, had its fair share of fun related to Bennett’s four-interception night. NFL fans did not hold back when aiming at the former Georgia football standout.

Bennett: Legendary Georgia Football Career
Following a walk-on season with the Georgia football program in 2017, quarterback Stetson Bennett transferred to Jones College following the arrival of five-star passer Justin Fields. Bennett returned to Athens, Georgia, in 2019, joining the Bulldogs as the backup quarterback. Bennett essentially played a backup role during his first two seasons before becoming the team’s starter following a five-touchdown effort in relief of starter JT Daniels. Bennett shined in his first season under center, throwing 2,862 yards, 29 touchdowns, and seven picks in 2021. The Georgia native threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns in a title game victory over Alabama, securing their first championship since 1980.
Bennett followed his stellar 2022 season with a 4,128-yard, 27-touchdown redshirt senior campaign. The elder statesman led Georgia to their first undefeated season in program history, capped by a 65-7 College Football Playoff National Championship win over TCU. He earned offensive MVP after combining for six total touchdowns.
