ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith got in a bare-all talk in a recent podcast, particularly with his intentions of running for the presidency in the 2028 elections. One particular question he addressed was the question of whether he would run as a Democrat or a Republican.
In his recent guesting at the PBD Podcast, Stephen A. Smith had an honest talk with the hosts of the show about a wide range of topics, including his intentions to run for the presidency come 2028. In his talk, the analyst revealed his reasoning behind declaring that he could be a Democratic party candidate.
“Is it 100% that in 2028, if you run, you will run as a Democrat?” Bet-David asked Smith.
“The only reason I say that is because I don’t think that I’d have a snowballs chance in hell of running as a Republican,” Smith answered. “I think JD Vance, the Marco Rubios of the world, even the Ron DeSantises of the world have that on lock, number one. Number two, the party is not as in disarray as the Democratic party. Number three, so I look at that, and their party is not as much in disarray.”
“In my perfect world, to answer your question, if a third party had a chance of winning an election, that would be the way that I go because I don’t like leaning far right or left. And I think both sides pull you dramatically in their direction.”

Stephen A. Smith Leaves Door Open for Presidential Run While Rejecting Political Label
Stephen A. Smith has sparked discussions about his potential 2028 presidential run, stating that while he is considering the possibility, he does not see himself as a politician. Speaking at the National Association of Broadcasters convention, Smith explained that he has been approached by elected officials, wealthy donors, and political strategists urging him to explore a campaign.

Despite this, he emphasized that he has never had a desire to enter politics, describing politicians as “professional beggars” who constantly seek favors. Smith acknowledged that he would need to study policy issues more deeply but expressed confidence in his ability to challenge traditional candidates in debates.
Smith’s remarks reflect his growing frustration with the current political landscape, particularly with the Democratic Party’s leadership struggles. He argued that the party lacks a clear vision and has failed to effectively counter Donald Trump’s administration, leading to speculation about alternative candidates.

Despite the attention surrounding his potential candidacy, Stephen A. Smith reiterated that he is not officially launching a campaign at this time. He stated that he would only consider running if he believed he had a legitimate shot at winning and making a meaningful impact.
