The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping that the 2024 season will prove to themselves (and the league) that they are once again Super Bowl contenders. Acquiring both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields addressed the most important position in football.
If Wilson is able to turn back time and perform like he did in Seattle, Pittsburgh could be a dangerous team. However, there is now a troubling report just days before their season opener.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Announce Brutal News Ahead Of Week One Vs. The Atlanta Falcons
According to Senior NFL Reporter James Palmer:
Steelers QB Russell Wilson limited (calf) in practice today. A calf injury kept him out of a large part of training camp.
Wilson also was slated to talk to the media today, and that has been moved to tomorrow.
As the day progressed, Wilson remained with the team, but he never once put his helmet on or took part in practice.
Wilson’s calf tightened up on him and coach Mike Tomlin said he is seeing a doctor to further diagnose the problem.
Following Wednesday’s practice, Wilson did not appear on the team’s injury report and had been participating fully.
His injury is being monitored closely by the Steelers in order to prevent it from worsening before he makes his regular season debut. According to Tomlin, the team isn’t concerned about his long-term availability.
The Steelers will travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons for the season opener. Kick off is scheduled for 1:00pm ET.
