In Week Three the Pittsburgh Steelers will finally get their home opener. Pittsburgh has surprised many by starting the season off 2-0 despite being down their QB1 and both games being on the road.
Justin Fields has been very efficient so far in two games:
- 69.8 completion percentage
- 1 touchdown
- 0 interceptions
- 273 passing yards
- 84 rushing yards
- 2 wins
Fields could be under center for the foreseeable future.
Steelers’ QB Russell Wilson Gets Devastating News Heading Into Week 3 Vs. Chargers

According to Justin Terranova of The New York Post:
The “petty game ball” might end up being the highlight of Russell Wilson’s Steelers career.
Wilson won the starting QB job in the preseason over Justin Fields before an ill-timed calf injury sidelined him for the start of the season.
Fields has done enough with the opportunity and it seems likely he will remain the starter for now with the Steelers off to a 2-0 start.
“If Russ is healthy, I’m sticking with Justin,” Steelers great Ben Roethlisberger said on his podcast this week, as reported by CBS Sports. “I think that he has earned, deserves the right to stay there.”
This also comes amid Fields likely being named the starter already for week three:
Fields has started both games for the 2-0 team and head coach Mike Tomlin said in a Tuesday press conference that the team is preparing to start him against the Chargers this Sunday as well. Russell Wilson was set to start before a calf injury and Tomlin said that Wilson is not going to fully participate when the team resumes its practice schedule on Wednesday.
Tomlin added that the team won’t give any consideration to changing quarterbacks until that changes and Wilson is able to do quality work with the team.
“We’re readying ourselves around Justin and we’ll stay in that mindset until something else happens,” Tomlin said. “Hypotheticals is a waste of our time.”
