The Pittsburgh Steelers have seemingly been waiting on a decision from Aaron Rodgers ever since he was released from the New York Jets. Pittsburgh was one of the very few teams that has been linked to Rodgers from the very beginning.
However, their waiting game may not pay off.
Steelers’ Mike Tomlin Gives Negative Update On Aaron Rodgers (Breaking)

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters today that he has no definitive update nor timeline on Aaron Rodgers and any decision to sign with Pittsburgh.
Tomlin said the Steelers still are evaluating potential quarterback acquisitions and are doing their due diligence.
Why is this a negative update? An NFL player meeting with a team for six hours, leaving with no contract, and then weeks later having “no timeline” doesn’t sound like the player is interested. Joining a new team in the NFL isn’t easy. Learning the playbook, getting used to the coaching staff, connecting with your teammates. Rodgers isn’t doing any of that with Pittsburgh.

Free agency has certainly impacted Rodgers’ ability to sign with the team he wanted (supposedly the Minnesota Vikings). That being said, Rodgers could lose out on Pittsburgh if he wants too long or Kirk Cousins become available:
The 36-year-old Cousins wants to start, and the Browns’ current quarterback situation — only Deshaun Watson and Kenny Pickett are on the roster — offers an opportunity for him to do that.
But the Browns may draft a quarterback, which gives Cousins a repeat of the same situation he was in last offseason when the Falcons selected Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8 overall: keeping the seat warm without long-term safety.
Still, Cleveland makes the most sense for Cousins — unless Rodgers chooses retirement over a 21st NFL season. Then, the Steelers become an extremely viable option, according to Cleveland.com‘s Mary Kay Cabot.
“If they don’t land Aaron Rodgers, they’ll likely be interested in Cousins,” Cabot wrote.
