Steelers All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick won’t be riding into St. Vincent College for training camp just yet. Fitzpatrick has been placed on the non-football injury list after sustaining a wrist injury on vacation from falling off a bike.
The Steelers locked up their star safety this past June. Making him the highest paid at his position with a five-year contract extension worth $18.4 million per season. He led the team with 124 tackles in 2021 while adding two interceptions and one forced fumble.

Coach Mike Tomlin made the announcement Tuesday after players reported to St. Vincent College for the first time since 2019. The injury is not expected to be serious for the two-time Pro Bowler or effect regular season play. Fitzpatrick has played in all 64 games to start his career. He’s also started every game in the black and gold since being traded from Miami.
Tomlin also touched on defensive lineman Tyson Alualu who will be placed on the physically unable to perform list. A knee injury from working out will sideline him to start camp. The Steelers eldest player on the roster, Alualu is looking to bounce back after a broken ankle suffered in Week 2 of last season.
Tomlin had this to say on the injuries. “We don’t expect it to be significant from a long-term perspective,” he said.
“We will monitor (both of) those guys and some other guys with a mind of things that will manage from a rep standpoint. But it won’t affect their designation in terms of participation.”
