The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the best franchises in the NFL, but since 2016, they have failed to win a playoff game. One player who has been part of the team for a long time is defensive lineman Cameron Heyward, but he could be leaving the team next season for their biggest rival.
Steelers Drafted Cameron Heyward In 2011
Cameron Heyward was drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Ohio State and has spent the last 13 seasons in the Steel City. He will be at least playing one more season for the team this year. Still, there is a chance this could very well be the last year he spends in Pittsburgh and then heads down the road to Cleveland to finish his career.
Heyward Hinted Towards A Move
An article from Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk states that Heyward floats the possibility of leaving the Steelers for the Browns in 2025, and it all goes back to an interview with Mark Kaboly of TheAthletic.com and Heyward was talking to his wife about maybe playing somewhere else and this is what the Pro-Bowler had to say.
“I have talked to my wife, and we know the reality, and we have had those talks, and she said it could be fun to play somewhere else,”
The article also stated that Heyward’s wife is from Cleveland, Ohio, and he still has family there, so that could be a possibility of where he plays next season.
Heyward will be a free agent after this year and will be 36 years old by the time the 2025 season rolls around. He probably only has one or two more seasons left since we see a lot of players start to slow down around the age of 35. It does seem like this will be his last year with the Steelers, and who knows if he will still be playing football after this season.
