Is Stephen A. Smith a Democrat or a Republican? Podcast hosts where he recently guested in concluded that he may actually be leaning towards one party, based on the issues he revealed he wants to prioritize.
In his recent appearance on the PBD Podcast, co-host Adam Sosnick concluded that Stephen A. Smith, based on the issues that he put on the top of his list, is a Republican.
“It’s so liberating to vote for Trump and be like, ‘ll right, I agree with the positions. I agree with the policies. I don’t like how he talks like that. I don’t like this,’” Sosnick said. “But there’s something different this time. Trump 2.0 versus Trump 1.0. Four years sitting in the wings looking at what’s going on here.”
“Everything you said, brother, is my exact five. The economy, the borders, safety, security, national security, defense, you know, peace through strength, and foreign affairs. Not basically being an ostrich head in the sand. Bro, you’re a Republican, I’m just telling you.”
“Straight up,” Smith quipped.
“This is my top five of the Democrats. Abortion. Abortion. Abortion. Medicare for all. Abortion. LGBTQPA mafia. You’re not any of that. You’re not a Democrat no more,” Sosnick added.

Stephen A. Smith Maintains Independent Stance While Criticizing Both Political Parties
Stephen A. Smith has consistently positioned himself as an independent thinker, refusing to align fully with either the Democratic or Republican parties. Over the years, he has openly criticized both sides, calling out Democrats for their lack of strong leadership and Republicans for their divisive rhetoric.

Smith has argued that the Democratic Party has failed to connect with working-class voters, often prioritizing social issues over economic concerns. At the same time, he has condemned Donald Trump’s administration, warning that its policies could have long-term consequences for the country. His willingness to challenge both parties has made him a unique voice in political discourse, attracting attention from voters who feel disillusioned with traditional politics.
Despite his critiques, Smith has made it clear that he does not consider himself a politician. He has repeatedly stated that he is a registered independent, emphasizing that he votes based on policy rather than party loyalty.

As speculation about his 2028 presidential ambitions grows, Stephen A. Smith continues to push back against the idea that he belongs to any political faction. He has stated that if he were to run, he would do so as an independent, refusing to be constrained by party politics.
