ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that AJ Brown is expected to stay with the Philadelphia Eagles through the NFL trade deadline on November 4, 2025.

Despite the growing talk of a possible move, the team is not actively trying to trade him. The Eagles would reportedly only consider a “blockbuster” offer, which is not expected to happen.
The rumors began after reports of tension between Brown, quarterback Jalen Hurts, and some players in the offense. His social media activity added to the speculation during a season when his numbers have been lower than his career average.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie responded to the reports, saying the team will “do what’s best for the team.” He made it clear that they would not trade a star player unless it helped their chances of winning at the highest level.
Brown is currently dealing with a hamstring injury that also bothered him during training camp. The injury comes just before the team’s Week 9 bye.
The Eagles will play the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, and ESPN reports that Brown has a “realistic chance” of returning for that game on Monday, November 10.
While Brown recovers, wide receiver DeVonta Smith is expected to take on a larger role as Jalen Hurts’ main target against the New York Giants.
AJ Brown Reminds the Eagles Why He’s the One Player They Can’t Afford to Lose
In the first six weeks of the 2025 season, Brown averaged only 45.7 receiving yards per game, far below his usual performance. Analysts pointed to chemistry problems and the unpredictable Eagles offense as the main reasons for the drop. The struggles also fueled trade rumors around the star receiver.
In Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings, Brown showed a massive performance. He helped lead the Eagles to a 28-22 win with a strong all-around effort.
Brown scored a touchdown on the team’s first drive and added another 26-yard score in the fourth quarter. His final catch, a 45-yard reception, helped secure the victory.

Brown and fellow receiver Smith combined for 304 receiving yards, one of the best showings in team history. It was only the fifth time that two Eagles receivers each crossed 100 receiving yards in the same game.
Brown remains essential to the Eagles because of his rare athletic traits and the way he changes how defenses play. His strength, speed, and body control make him a difficult matchup for any opponent.

Trading him would take away one of the league’s best receivers and create a heavy salary cap cost for the team.
He continues to stand out for his power and agility. Brown often wins difficult catches and creates extra yards after contact. His presence forces opposing defenses to adjust, making him one of Philadelphia’s most valuable players on the field.
