Gibson a Junior in the program is a versatile wide receiver and was in position to have a break out season after a sophomore season that should’ve been his breakout year with the injury to Andrel Anthony early in the 2023 season. Gibson has remained loyal and continuously striving to compete at a higher level every year. Hopefully the MRI he is set to have will not put him out for the season.
Jayden Gibson who hails from Florida and was originally recruited by Jeff Lebby in 2021, committed to the Sooners over Florida, Miami, and other Power 5 programs. Gibson was a consensus 4-star wide receiver and ranked as the no.7 wide receiver per rivals, via soonerwire, in the 2021 recruiting class. Gibson is listed currently at 6’5″, 197 lbs per ESPN.
Jayden Gibson had a decent 2023 season, recording 375 yards on 14 receptions and contributing 5 touchdowns to the Sooners 10-3 season that ended with a tough loss to Arizona in the Alamo Bowl. WIth the Sooners entering the SEC this year, Gibson along with Nic Anderson, Jalil Farooq, and Andrel Anthony’s return from injury was sure to be a dynamic offense and a tough match up for anyone on the Sooners schedule this coming season.
The Sooner faithful look forward to any word on the severity of the injury and we are all praying for the best outcome for this loyal and steadfast Sooner. Jayden Gibson has stayed true to the Crimson and Cream through minimal production through two seasons, this is a great thing to see with the transfer portal always open to any player in FBS.
