Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager, recently faced the wrath of Skip Bayless, sports journalist, for skipping out on Pete Carroll as head coach. The Dallas Cowboys were indeed looking for a new head coach for a few weeks after letting go of Mike McCarthy. It was also reported that the team had spoken to veteran coach, Pete Carroll, and was considering him for the role.
However, it came as a bit of a surprise when the Cowboys announced that the team had decided to promote their offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, to the position of head coach. Skip Bayless took to X, to go off on a tirade against Jerry Jones. According to Bayless, the reports that the Cowboys were considering Carroll were all made up, and that Jerry Jones went with Schottenheimer just so that he can control him.
“Jerry Jones is slick. He knows how to play that PR game. So now he has leaked word that he talked to Pete Carroll. Didn’t bring him in for an interview. He talked to Pete Carroll just so he could tell everybody after he hires Brian Schottenheimer, well, ‘I did talk to old Pete, but we didn’t really come to any sort of conclusion about anything.’ Stop it. Jerry, I’ve heard enough.” Skip Bayless tweeted on his X account.
“He’s too big for you Jerry.. he would come in and destroy the country club culture that you, Jerry, have built in Dallas for your players.” pic.twitter.com/X0Yo2dMHuc

“He’s just too charismatic for you. Jerry. You couldn’t run over Pete Carroll, you couldn’t tell him what to do. You couldn’t order him. You couldn’t demand. He would take over your franchise. And then when he won, and I believe he would win very quickly, he would get almost all the credit, maybe not Deion (Sanders) kind of credit, but almost all the credit would go to Pete Carroll.” Bayless continued.
Even though Jerry Jones may have not opted for him as head coach, Pete Carroll seems to have found a new home as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. At 73 years, Carroll will definitely be one of the older coaches in the league. Before this, Carroll was a senior advisor for the Seattle Seahawks in the most recently concluded NFL season.

Robert Griffin III Feels Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys Are Not Serious About Winning
Meanwhile, Robert Griffin III came out with a controversial take on Jerry Jones promoting Brian Schottenheimer to head coach. The former NFL quarterback who played for the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns, took to X to comment that the Dallas Cowboys “aren’t serious about winning”.

Not just Griffin, but numerous fans and even sports analysts have come out to diss Jerry Jones for the decision. Some even went on to comment that Jerry Jones seems to have lost his ambition, and is simply going for a safer pick.
