Should the XFL and USFL have a Championship Game?

Just like the NFL has the Super Bowl, wouldn’t it be ideal if both Executive VP’s (Mr. Marc Ross) of the XFL and (Mr. Daryl Johnston) of the USFL joined together to discuss the possibility of hosting an annual “Spring Bowl”?

The champions from each league would play against each other for a one-game-winner-takes-all.

Changes to when the USFL would start

In order to complete a 10-week season for both leagues (including playoffs), the USFL would need to start one-week earlier in order to get the “Spring Bowl” in before the NFL scouts start to look at the players in both the XFL and USFL.

By starting a week earlier in the USFL, it should not cause any scheduling problems as the leagues are seen on different television networks and play on different fields.

    Rules

All the rules will remain the same, except your team can also bring in your kicker when going for the extra point, after your touch down. The 1 point, 2 point and 3 point conversion is still in play, but teams seem to be struggling to make the pass for the points.

    Game Reporting

Reporting live will be none other than Erin Andrews on the XFL team sideline and her colleague Charissa Thompson for the USFL team. They currently host a podcast together called, “Calm Down with Erin and Charissa.”

Together, these two are arguably two of the best reporters on the FOX network and bring a ton of experience and knowledge with them to keep the audience entertained.

    Referee

The Referee coming out of retirement would be everyone’s friend and still in-shape (we hope), Ed Hochuli. The former Referee and father of current Referee Shawn Hochuli would be the man in charge.

He held the position of referee in the NFL from (1990-2017), calling many games over the course of his career. According to a poll taken by ESPN in 2008, he is tied with fellow retired referee Mike Carey for the best referee in the NFL.

Where “Spring Bowl” would take Place?

Of course, it would take place at “Jerry’s World” at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It is home to the Cotton Bowl, the Big 12 Championship game, and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It would be a neutral site where both teams would have an equal shot at the title.

    Conclusion

Let’s hope that the Executive VP’s from both leagues do come together and come up with some kind of Championship game, because the Spring league in my opinion deserve a “Super Bowl” type of game ending!

What is your opinion on a “Spring Bowl Championship Game”? Please let me know.

There’s something to say for keeping the leagues separated and thus the eternal mystery (what if)? Good ideation teasers Jamie.
Let’s hope that the Executive VP’s from both leagues do come together and come up with some kind of maybe ALLSTAR game? Would this also be a trade with no real intrinsic value? Whereas they’ll only play at 1/2 intensity at best??
I’m for keeping separation of “ Church & State”.
        Awesome thought provoking article Jamie.
