The BYU Cougars have a 9-1 record this season in college football and there only loss came against the #5 Texas Tech Red Raiders. BYU has had a very good season in college football.

In the latest playoff rankings, the Cougars are ranked number 11. The thing is that the ACC winner and the G5 winner is not ranked ahead of them in the Top 10. This would mean that the Cougars would currently be out of the playoff picture at the moment. BYU has a game on the road this weekend against the Cincinnati Bearcats. There are a lot of people who are livid with where the Cougars are ranked. Some believe that this team should be ranked ahead of teams like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
BYU Cougars Fans Livid Over Latest College Football Playoff Rankings

BYU fans know that they are going to have to probably win the BIG12 Conference in order to make the college football playoffs, unless the Crimson Tide, the Fighting Irish, or the Oklahoma Sooners can lose another game this season. It will be hard for the college football committee to keep Texas Tech and BYU out of the college football playoffs if that happens.
This is what Cougars fans had to say on Twitter about the latest college football playoff rankings update:
Should be at least #8 but just keep winning.

#11 means we don’t go to CFB. Gotta win out and beat Texas Tech.

This is turning into the SEC, Big 10, and ND Invitational
— Ivan Gamez (@theivangamez) November 19, 2025
yes. keep winning. keep hoping for chaos above us.
— BYU_Leonas (@TrackerByu) November 19, 2025
Keep wining. Huge game this week.
— Mark Hays (@Markhaysss) November 19, 2025
If BYU were to lose this week against the Bearcats, it would no doubt certainly dash their playoff hopes. With that being said, they automatically be in the playoffs if they win the BIG12 title game. The Cougars just need to win out and leave nothing to chance.
