The No. 23 Colorado Buffaloes have a few college football players taking a significant risk for their bowl appearance on Saturday. The Buffaloes are set to play No. 17 BYU in the Valero Alamo Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders said that all players intending to enter the 2025 draft, including expected first-round picks, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, will play in the Alamo Bowl despite the chance of sustaining injury a few months before the draft in April.
Deion Sanders makes an announcement about Colorado’s bowl game
Per On3 Sports and Ryan Koenigsberg of DNVR Buffs, Deion announced that the Buffaloes would provide disability insurance for its players in the bowl game. Shedeur and Hunter have “historic” policies.
“We have a multitude of players that are draftable, that they received a draft grade,” Deion said. “They had visibility (insurance) all season long, we want to make insure that if something were to happen, they would cover it.
“We happen to have two players that are probably going to be the first two picks of the NFL Draft. We all know who those two are and they have received, I think, the highest number of coverage that has ever been covered in college football. It far exceeds anyone that has ever played this game of college football.”

The social media post by On3 Sports includes a picture of Shedeur, Hunter and Shilo Sanders. Many fans on social media didn’t think Shilo belonged in the same category as Hunter and Shedeur, as the 24-year-old safety isn’t a lock to be drafted in 2025.
