Shemar Stewart, rookie Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, will not be training with the team in the upcoming camp as he and his agent continue to negotiate for a better contract. Stewart is one of the rookies in this year’s draft who is not happy with the given contract and is negotiating for something more. Apparently, Stewart was not happy with the language used in the contrac,t which hints at no guaranteed money.

However, in a recent conversation with reporters at the team’s media luncheon, Cincinnati Bengals president Mike Brown highlighted that the problems are not because of money overall, but money regardless of situations like if Stewart went to prison for something he did.
“A very peculiar thing. It’s not about money. It’s about the guarantee in the case of if he were to do something contrary to the discipline levels of the league. I don’t think that’s going to happen ever. That’s what’s holding it up. It’s never happened as long as I can remember. His agent wants it to be if he acted in a terrible fashion — this is all hypothetical — something that rises to the level of going to prison, we’d be on the line for the guarantee. If we get a player who does something unacceptable, guess what? I don’t want to pay him. I really don’t. If he’s sitting in jail, I don’t think I have to pay him.” Cincinnati Bengals president Mike Brown spoke about Shemar Stewart’s contract in the recent media luncheon.

There have also been rumors going around that Shemar Stewart will not play for the Cincinnati Bengals at all and may simply go back to playing for the Texas A&M Aggies. Stewart did indeed have a great run with Texas A&M, which led him to be signed in the very first round by the Bengals.
Shemar Stewart Advised To Be Part Of Training Camp By Duke Tobin
Shemar Stewart missing the training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals is a huge mistake according to the director of player personnel, Duke Tobin. Tobin spoke to reporters recently and reiterated that Stewart definitely should be present at training and blamed the player’s agent for confusing him.

Tobin also stated that Shemar Stewart is being given the same exact treatment as all the other draft picks and therefore, has no reason not to make it to training. However, Stewart seems to be relentless in his pursuit of a better deal with the Bengals.
