Shedeur Sanders’ prank-caller’s father, Jeff Ulbrich, who is the defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, recently apologized for his son’s actions in a press conference. Jeff Ulbrich’s son, Jax Ulbrich, apparently obtained Sanders’ number from his father’s iPad and called the quarterback while the 2025 NFL draft was going on. Jax pretended to be a representative of the New Orleans Saints, lying to Sanders that the team would pick him next.
As a result of the prank call made by his son during the draft, Jeff Ulbrich has been fined $100,000 by the NFL. Not only Ulbrich, but the Atlanta Falcons, too, have been fined $250,000 for not protecting confidential information.
“The NFL has taken action and I fully respect the punishment. We take full responsibility — my son and myself — and we will not appeal the fine in any way. Going forward, I promise my son and I will work hard to demonstrate we are better than this.” Jeff Ulbrich said in a recent press conference, apologizing for his son’s actions.
Jeff Ulbrich’s son, Jax Ulbrich, also shared an apology on his social media after the prank call came to light. Apparently, Jax got on a personal call with Shedeur Sanders to apologize for his mistake. Jeff Ulbrich admitted that the Sanders family had been ‘amazingly gracious’ when he and his son apologized to them.

Shedeur Sanders Was Not The Only One Who Got Prank Calls
Shedeur Sanders was not the only player who received prank calls during the 2025 NFL draft. Mason Graham, defensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns and Tyler Warren, tight end for the Indianapolis Colts also received prank calls during the draft.
The NFL is seriously investigating these calls as well. However, from the current picture, it looks like the calls made to Graham and Warren were not made by Jax Ulbrich. The exact sources of these calls are not known as of now.

Shedeur Sanders managed to be selected by the Cleveland Browns all the way in the fifth round as the 144th pick of the draft. Apart from Sanders, the Browns also brought in Dillon Gabriel, another quarterback for the team.

NFL analysts are currently discussing if Sanders will be chosen as starting quarterback in his rookie season with the Browns. But, current rumors are pointing to the negative of this. Sanders, whose draft stock was quite low than what it was touted to be at the beginning, will have to prove his spot in the team before he gets promoted to QB1.
