Shedeur Sanders has been one of the most discussed players entering their rookie season in the NFL as he is looking to make the Cleveland Browns after being a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, teams were rubbed the wrong way with him during the pre-draft process with the way the quarterback conducted himself.
What was it that happened to Shedeur Sanders to cause some of the character and maturity concerns to rise back into the discussion? Let’s take a closer look.
Shedeur Sanders Ticketed for High-Speed Driving

Fox 8 in Cleveland is reporting that Shedeur Sanders was pulled over on Tuesday morning on 71 North at 12:24 a.m. and cited for driving 101 MPH on a 60 MPH road. He was given a citation for the incident, which means he can either fight the ticket on in court or simply pay a fine.
At the time of this writing, neither the Cleveland Browns nor Shedeur Sanders have not commented on the report. Sanders is currently in a quarterback competition with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel as he is trying to make the 53-man roster for the Cleveland Browns.
One of the reasons for the significant draft fall for one of the players projected to be a top pick in the most recent NFL draft was due to maturity concerns and this certainly will not help with that case. Since being selected in the draft, there has been very little to criticize Sanders about and he has handled the quarterback competition as well as you could hope for.
It will be interesting if there is any concern within the Cleveland Browns organization in regards to the driving citation or if it is going to be seen as just a simple mistake by a young player. This comes following Sanders speaking to students at John Marshall High School and encouraging them to make good decisions. While a traffic citation is nothing to overlook, it will be interesting if the immature label continues to follow the rookie quarterback as a result.
