Shedeur Sanders has a fan in newly acquired Cleveland Cavaliers guard Lonzo Ball.
“I got to go see Shedeur, man. I got to go see Shedeur. Myles Garrett, too? Oh yeah, I’m there. I’m there,” Ball said during an introductory media scrum after landing in Cleveland.
Shedeur Sanders may not be on an NBA court, but the buzz around him is clearly crossing over. Ball’s enthusiasm wasn’t just about joining a playoff contender. It also came with some local scouting plans involving Sanders and Browns All-Pro Garrett.
The Cavs made headlines this week by acquiring Lonzo Ball from the Bulls as part of a new-look rotation around Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley. But Ball made it clear it’s not just about basketball in The Land.
“Competing for a ring, that’s the goal,” Ball added.

Shedeur Sanders, meanwhile, continues to be one of the most-watched quarterbacks in college football heading into what could be his final season with Colorado. And it looks like the Cleveland sports brotherhood just gained another loyal supporter.
It’s not every day that an NBA player shouts out a college QB before even settling into his new team. But Shedeur Sanders has that kind of pull, even from hardwood stars.
Lonzo Ball Isn’t the Only One—Shedeur Sanders Making Waves in Cleveland
Lonzo Ball dropping “I got to go see Shedeur” opened doors, but he’s not the only one rooting for the Browns’ rookie. Social media is buzzing as another local celebrity nods to the new QB.
“Man it’s about to be Lonzo Ball, Gelo, & Shedeur … in Cleveland 😂,” Figgy Fig posted on X, referencing former Cavs draft pick LaMelo’s brother joining the mix.

That reaction shows Shedeur Sanders is becoming part of Cleveland’s sports culture. Whether courtside or sidelines, he’s already earning a reputation in The Land.
Shedeur’s arrival came with high expectations. He fell to the fifth round, but strong play in minicamp and press conferences has fueled talk of real upside, especially with his locker-room chemistry across sport borders.

Cleveland insiders point out that Shedeur’s mindset reminds them of successful rookie QB transitions: hungry, grounded, and ready to learn. Ball’s shoutout might’ve sparked the crossover, but fans and media suggestions indicate Shedeur is here to stay.
If Shedeur Sanders can ride that multi-sport energy into the preseason, Cleveland might just have a QB that belongs on the page and in the headlines.
