Shedeur Sanders may have been hinting at his preferred team according to many NFL fans, but now, in a recent podcast episode, he had a lengthy reaction to the state of the New York Giants. The Giants are in a brutal place as they officially benched their quarterback Daniel Jones, and most of the players are reportedly against that decision.
Perhaps the team is ready to tank the rest of the season in hopes they could secure the No. 1 overall draft pick and get Sanders who is thought of by most as the best quarterback in this year’s draft. Sanders had a lot to say about the Giants benching of Jones, even though he tried to say nothing.
Shedeur Sanders Long ‘No Comment’ On Giants
The Giants are becoming a team that increasingly looks to be in the running for the Colorado superstar Sanders, and with the benching of Jones, they will become one of the top teams in contention for the quarterback.
While Sanders is known to be outspoken in the media, he tried to take a different approach on a recent podcast when it came to talking about the Giants and their benching of Jones.
Sanders wide receiver Drelon Miller was on the most recent podcast that Shedeur hosts called 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders. Miller tried to do his best to get Sanders’s ideas on the Giants and see if Sanders was thinking about them as a team he would want to go to.
Miller was giving his ideas about how the team can get better saying:
“Honestly, I feel like they’ve just got to take a second to regroup,” Miller said. “You know, just hopefully get someone good out the draft.”
He clearly wanted Sanders to come in and say that the Giants needed him to take over the team. Shedeur would not take the bait, however, and tried to dismiss the comments:
“What you doin’ that for now” Sanders said with a laugh. “What you — what you’d doing that for?”
“I mean, Malik Nabers was my favorite receiver playing college football last year. I wouldn’t mind if I saw y’all two on a team together. I’d actually be very happy.”
Sanders again, did not take the bate, but rather tried to take a more nuanced approach to the situation:
“Come on man, he’s being federal on here. I don’t know. But nah, I think it’s just up to the staff and up to the coaches at that point. I don’t know — no comment. That’s just the safe route for me. No comment,” Sanders explained. “I can’t even turn water into wine right now. I can’t do anything, so just no comment. But I would never pray on anybody’s downfall though. I would never do that.
“I would never pray on a team’s downfall, player’s downfall, anything, because I wouldn’t want anybody to do that to me. So, that’s why I just — just don’t have a comment.”
While Shedeur may be interested in the Giants, it was great to see him be more diplomatic about his response on the podcast. There will be many teams that will be hoping to get Sanders and he will have to explore his options.
