Shedeur Sanders is one of the most talked about rookies heading into the 2025 NFL season. His side from being a possible top 10-draft pick to the fifth round had fans all over the league completely in shock. Deion Sanders and his family made it clear that no matter where he got drafted, he will be a success in the NFL.
However, what the family didn’t expect was a backing from Donald Trump.
“I Won’t Even Lie” Shedeur Sanders’ Family Makes Massive Donald Trump Announcement

Shedeur Sanders’ brother, Shilo Sanders, recently expressed his excitement over President Donald Trump’s public support during Shedeur’s unexpected slide in the 2025 NFL Draft:
Appearing on the podcast ‘One Night with Steiny,’ Shilo expressed his amazement at Trump’s intervention, stating: “Not even going to lie. That was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. If you got the President pleading, bro, you know something’s wrong… W Trump. W Trump.”
The incident in question occurred after Shedeur, once projected as a first-round pick, fell to the fifth round, ultimately being selected 144th overall by the Browns. Trump took to Truth Social to criticize NFL team owners for passing on Sanders, praising his athletic pedigree and calling for him to be picked immediately.
The post garnered significant attention and sparked discussions about the potential influence of political figures on sports decisions.

Trump wrote: “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?
“Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!
“Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
While some, including White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, humorously suggested that Trump’s post may have played a role in Shedeur’s eventual selection, others, like veteran NFL agent Leigh Steinberg, were skeptical.
Steinberg noted that while Trump’s comments increased publicity, they likely did not impact team decisions, stating: “I don’t think so because teams are tightly focused in their war rooms across the country, and they know who they want.”

Despite the unexpected draft outcome, Shedeur maintained a positive outlook. In a video posted after the first round, he said: “We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything is possible… All this is, of course, is fuel to the fire.”
The Sanders family’s experience during the draft, including a prank call incident involving Shedeur, has highlighted the intense scrutiny and challenges faced by high-profile prospects.
Nonetheless, with Shedeur’s selection by the Browns and Shilo’s signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, both brothers are poised to embark on their professional football careers.
As the dust settles on the 2025 NFL Draft, the intersection of sports, politics, and media continues to be a topic of conversation, exemplified by the Sanders family’s journey and the unexpected involvement of a U.S. President.
