Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback, did not make any major impression in the brief time that he played in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams. Sanders did stun in his performance during the first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, chalking up two touchdowns.
Sanders actually did not get so much time on the field during the third preseason game and was pulled out before he could make a proper finish for the Browns. For this, head coach Kevin Stefanski has been called out repeatedly. However, renowned sportscaster Colin Cowherd highlighted something that many have ignored.

“For any young QB, your college issues will only be exacerbated in the pros. You have to clean up & speed up your game. Shedeur Sanders held the ball too long in college. Now go to You Tube and watch his pre season snaps. He’s hosting a seminar back there on most drop backs,” Colin Cowherd posted on his X account about Shedeur Sanders.

Even during the draft process, this negative habit of Shedeur Sanders has been continually called out. However, it looks like Sanders has plenty to learn on how different the NFL is when compared to college football.
While Sanders failed to score for the Cleveland Browns, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel managed to chalk up a solo touchdown, while veteran QB Joe Flacco added another one. After this, the Browns will meet the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 for the 2025 NFL campaign.
Shedeur Sanders Moves Up The Browns Depth Chart
Despite Shedeur Sanders not putting up such an impressive performance in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams, the quarterback had some great news waiting for him toward the end of the weekend. According to recent reports, the Browns have released quarterback Tyler Huntley while trading away Kenny Pickett.

With these moves, Sanders is one of three quarterbacks in the Cleveland Browns roster, which also features veteran quarterback Joe Flacco and rookie Dillon Gabriel. It is still unclear as to who the backup quarterback for Joe Flacco will be for the upcoming NFL season. With Dillon Gabriel being selected two rounds before Shedeur Sanders in the draft, it is likely that he will be back up QB.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski did reveal last week that they plan on thinning down the quarterback depth chart in their team. However, fans definitely did not see these moves coming, and that too so soon.
