Shedeur Sanders slid down the NFL draft from being a top prospect, and analyst and critic Jason Whitlock has only one person to blame: Shedeur’s father, NFL legend and coach Deion Sanders.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock blasted college football coach Deion Sanders and pointed to him as the top reason why Shedeur Sanders slid down the NFL draft from being a first-round prospect to being a hundredth pick in the fifth round.
“One of the biggest red flags that Dion has sent out that any coach, executive, [and] even ownership should be afraid of is the video that surfaced when they had a Pro Day at Colorado and Dion publicly ripped the scout in the directions the scout was giving it Pro Day,” Whitlock said.
“That’s the nightmare scenario that every coach [and] organization is afraid of,” he added. “‘Hey, we can’t do what we want to do because Deion is second-guessing us from afar, and Deion called out a scout at the Pro Day and embarrassed him. If this is what we’re going to be dealing with, just a Pro Day and how we run drills…”
Deion Sanders went viral during Colorado’s Pro Day when he publicly confronted an NFL scout who was directing drills in a way Sanders disagreed with. In a bold move, Sanders interrupted the scout and told his players, “Y’all start how y’all want to start. F*** this man here. Do y’all thing.” The moment quickly spread online, with fans and analysts debating whether Sanders was standing up for his players or overstepping his role.

Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Slide Shocks NFL Analysts, Fans
In a surprising turn of events, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, landing with the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 144. Sanders, once projected as a first-round selection, experienced one of the most unexpected draft slides in recent history.

Analysts initially expected him to be one of the top quarterbacks off the board, but concerns about his arm strength, mobility, and interview performance led teams to pass on him until Day 3 of the draft. Despite the disappointment, Sanders expressed gratitude on social media, thanking God and emphasizing his readiness to prove himself at the next level.

For Shedeur Sanders, his fall in the draft might serve as fuel for motivation, as he enters the NFL with something to prove. He has already stated that he intends to work harder than ever, hoping to show teams that passing on him was a mistake.
