Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback, recently admitted to reporters that he definitely does not want his father, Deion ‘Coach Prime’ Sanders, to watch him practice at training camp. Deion Sanders has always been known to take a keen interest in the professional lives of his sons, especially his youngest, Shedeur Sanders.

Shedeur Sanders’ reasoning for not wanting Deion Sanders at training camp is because he does not want his father to see at his current position, and instead wants him to wait until the young quarterback has risen to a higher rank in the NFL. Shedeur Sanders will soon see his first ever season with the Cleveland Browns in the upcoming year. However, it is still questionable as to whether the team will start with him anytime soon.
“I don’t want him coming to see me right now because I wanna get to where I wanna go then for him to see me. I don’t want him to come and see me get a couple of reps, and he’s cheering like a good dad. Like, Nah, you can’t be proud of me right now. I gotta get to where I’m going, and I know it’s a lot I gotta do to get there. It’s kinda like I just want everything that I’m doing, just like focus on this time and I don’t want no distractions because we know how the media, we know how everybody will take it and take away from the team just from him being my own dad showing up. So you know it’s a gift and a curse at the same time.” Shedeur Sanders spoke to reporters about his father.

While Shedeur Sanders may not want Deion Sanders present at training camp because he has still not risen up in ranks, there also may be another reason as to why the young QB wants to distance himself from his dad. Coach Prime has been often called out in the past for getting over-involved in Shedeur’s career, with many citing the father as the reason for Shedeur’s draft stock plummeting.
Shedeur Sanders Gets Overtaken By Dillon Gabriel
Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders does not seem to be having much luck in his first months with the Cleveland Browns. According to recent reports, the Browns are favoring Dillon Gabriel above Shedeur Sanders in their depth chart as QB3.

This automatically makes Sanders QB4, which means that it is most unlikely to see the rookie quarterback start with the team in the upcoming NFL season. Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco will be QB1 for the team in the 2025 football season.
