Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders may have to wait for his QB1 dreams to come true for a while longer, as insider information revealed that the Browns’ QB1 may return sometime in the upcoming 2025 season.
In an episode of “The Afternoon Drive,” NFL insider Albert Breer gave his insights on the potential return of Deshaun Watson, which could mean that Shedeur Sanders might have to wait longer before getting in front of the quarterback line.
“I don’t think it’s impossible at all. I think it’s definitely on the table, and I think he could play this year,” Breer said. “You look at the timelines for an Achilles, they do vary a bunch, but based on when he had his second year (December 2024), the idea that he can come back in nine months…you’re still talking about potentially (coming back) before the season.”
“I think there’s a possibility that he (Watson) comes back and he’s cleared in time to play a good chunk of the 2025 season.”
While Shedeur Sanders was drafted by the team and has shown promise, the Browns have several quarterbacks competing for the starting role. Kenny Pickett has emerged as the frontrunner for the position, taking first-team reps in organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp.

Sheuder Sanders Star in $100 Million Fan Lawsuit
Shedeur Sanders is at the center of a lawsuit filed by a fan who claims the NFL’s handling of his draft slide caused emotional distress. The plaintiff, identified only as John Doe, is a devoted Colorado Buffaloes supporter who was shocked when Sanders fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, despite being projected as a first-round pick.

The plaintiff alleged that the NFL engaged in discriminatory practices that unfairly impacted Sanders’ draft position, leading to irreparable harm not only to Sanders but also to fans who expected fairness in the league. Seeking $100 million in damages, they argued that the NFL’s actions violated principles of integrity and nondiscrimination in professional sports.

The lawsuit, filed on May 7, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, has taken a dramatic turn with Doe submitting an emergency motion for early discovery. This motion requests access to internal NFL communications, scouting reports, draft boards, and interview notes related to Sanders’ evaluation.
As of now, the NFL has not responded to the lawsuit, leaving this case involving Shedeur Sanders in a state of uncertainty.
