Shedeur Sanders, newly drafted Cleveland Browns quarterback, was recently defended by none other than former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe discussed Sanders being heavily criticized by analysts and scouts right before the draft, which in turn was the main reason for his stock falling. After being predicted to be a first-round pick, Sanders was eventually pushed to the fifth round, where he ended up being drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
Shedeur Sanders was painted as brash and arrogant by scouts in his interviews, which left a sour taste in many mouths. Sharpe felt that the whole thing was simply twisted and perhaps the scouts spoke to Sanders when he had his headphones on.
“You know what I bet they did Ocho, he probably had the headphones around his neck, and they talking like he had them on. I bet you that’s what they did. You said, ‘you know what guys, on our draft board, we didn’t have him rated that high,’ we moved on, but to try to diminish the man, to try to come up with every excuse like he’s unprofessional… “ Shannon Sharpe said about Shedeur Sanders in the recent episode of his ‘Nightcap’ podcast.
Shannon Sharpe is not the only big name in the sport to come out in defense of Deion Sanders’ youngest son when the majority are out there criticizing him. Apart from Sharpe, renowned sports journalist Skip Bayless also maintained his stance that the entire narrative surrounding Shedeur Sanders’ attitude has been made up to be something that it is not.

Shedeur Sanders’s Teammate, Dillon Gabriel, Signs Rookie Contract With Browns
In other news, Shedeur Sanders’ teammate, Dillon Gabriel, recently signed a rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns. Some time back, it was announced that Gabriel signed a four-year deal with the Browns for a sum of $6,226,322. Sanders’ own contract was a sum of $4.6 million for a period of four years.

Dillon Gabriel was selected by the Browns as the 94th pick in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. Before being drafted, the 24-year-old quarterback split his college football career between the UCF Knights, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oregon Ducks. Along with Shedeur Sanders, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel will be another quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. In his senior year with the Oregon Ducks, Gabriel threw for a total of 3,857 yards, scoring 30 touchdowns, while managing six interceptions.
