The case involving Shannon Sharpe and a $50 million lawsuit is part of an “open secret” surrounding the former NFL star and analyst. At least, this is what Jason Whitlock thinks of the issue.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock discussed the current lawsuit ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe is facing, as well as his take on the media outlet putting Sharpe back on air in the middle of the controversy.
“The reason why I’m critical of ESPN or just like raise a side eye is that’s like, okay, maybe this woman is lying,” Whitlock said, “but anybody with a brain knows that Shannon Sharpe has had a long-sorted history with women making allegations about him and lawsuits being settled. This is an open secret.”
“So, yes, he has proven that this woman clearly wanted to have sex with him, but I’m not sure if he’s out of the woodworks just yet.”
A lawsuit has been filed against former NFL player and current media personality Shannon Sharpe by a woman identified as “Jane Doe,” seeking $50 million in damages. The lawsuit, lodged in Nevada, accuses Sharpe of sexual assault and battery stemming from what is described as a “rocky consensual relationship” that began in 2023.

The lawsuit alleged that Sharpe’s behavior escalated over time, becoming increasingly controlling and abusive. Among the most severe claims are two instances of rape in October 2024 and another in January 2025, during which Doe asserts she was coerced into sexual acts despite her objections.

Shannon Sharpe Claps Back at “Orchestrator” of $50M Lawsuit
In a video he posted on social media, Shannon Sharpe clapped back at the lawsuit filed against him, and called it a “shakedown” with the mastermind being the personal injury lawyer handling the case for “Jane Doe.”
“This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee, who has targeted Jay-Z,” Sharpe said. “Tony Buzbee targets black men, and I believe he’s going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine. That video should actually be 10 minutes or so.
“Hey Tony, instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don’t have it or I would myself you know what happened and you’re trying to manipulate the media.”

In the video, Shannon Sharpe also expressed his intention to file a lawsuit for defamation against Jane Doe and Tony Buzbee.
