The controversy and the lawsuit Shannon Sharpe is facing right now is not something that would bring his career down, but rather, it is a strategically approached brand-building. Or at least, this is what analyst and critic Jason Whitlock thinks of the issue and the allegations thrown at the ESPN analyst.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock talked about the issue of sexual assault allegations thrown at Shannon Sharpe, and a $50 million lawsuit the ESPN analyst is facing. For Whitlock, rather than impacting his career negatively, the entire controversy could be a brand-building opportunity that would ultimately benefit Sharpe.
“So I just sit back and go I think Shannon Sharpe,” Whitlock said. “Part of me thinks this controversy, this latest controversy, and no matter what Tony Buzbee does, no matter how many women come out and say anything about Shannon Sharpe, I actually think it’s going to work for Shannon Sharpe.”
“This is brand building, and I’m looking at Pat McAfee: brand build, and I’m looking at Kanye West: brand build.”
Shannon Sharpe is facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by a Jane Doe, who alleged multiple instances of sexual assault and battery during their relationship. The lawsuit claimed that Sharpe was controlling and abusive, recording their sexual encounters without consent and threatening her safety, including an incident where he allegedly grabbed her neck and threatened to kill her.
The plaintiff also alleged that Sharpe pursued her relentlessly and engaged in a manipulative relationship. Sharpe has denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a “shakedown” and accusing the plaintiff’s attorney of orchestrating a setup.

Shannon Sharpe breaks Silence on Sexual Assault Allegations
Shannon Sharpe broke his silence amidst the issues of sexual assault he is facing, and a $50 million lawsuit filed by Jane Doe.

In a video on Instagram, Sharpe downplayed the controversy as a “shakedown” and named personal injury lawyer Tony Buzbee as the mastermind of this scheme against him.
“This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee, who has targeted Jay-Z,” Sharpe said. “Tony Buzbee targets black men, and I believe he’s going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine. That video should actually be 10 minutes or so.
“Hey Tony, instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don’t have it or I would myself you know what happened, and you’re trying to manipulate the media.”

Shannon Sharpe, in the video, also threatened to sue Jane Doe and Buzbee for defamation.
