Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe is no stranger to controversy or lawsuits. Recently, he was sued by his fellow Canton inductee Brett Favre for defamation, stemming from comments Sharpe made about the former Green Bay Packers quarterback following reports of his alleged involvement in the Mississippi Welfare Scandal.
Unfortunately, new reports reveal that the former Denver Broncos tight end and three-time Super Bowl champion is being sued by someone else, a Jane Doe, who is accusing him of something far more terrible than saying mean things.
Former Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens TE Shannon Sharpe Is Accused of Sexual Assault
Per a report by TMZ:
“Shannon Sharpe has just been sued for allegedly raping a woman on multiple occasions … and the plaintiff in the case is asking for tens of millions in damages.
“The woman stated she and the former Denver Broncos tight end ultimately got into a consensual relationship, though she described it as controlling and verbally abusive.
“‘He demanded complete control over her time and body,’ attorney Tony Buzbee wrote in Doe’s suit, ‘expecting her to be at his house on his schedule, at his command, whenever he called.’
“Doe claimed there was one argument in particular that terrified her — when he yelled at her while a firearm was visible in the room. “‘Plaintiff tried sharing her location with friends from her iPhone — just in case,’ the docs state. ‘But Sharpe saw her doing this. The moment he realized what she was doing, he grabbed her by the neck and told her, ‘If you ever do that again, I will f***ing kill you.’
Previously, judges have dismissed lawsuits like this brought against players due to the anonymity of the plaintiffs. However, they are also then refiled shortly after with the plaintiff’s name made public.
It will be interesting to see how Sharpe’s case plays out.
