Comedian Shane Gillis took an easy shot at President Donald Trump during his appearance at the ESPYS on Wednesday night.
As Trump continues to involve himself in the sports world, through initiatives such as NIL deals and college, and with the Washington Commanders’ stadium project, the more those connected to sports are discussing Trump.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently discussed the Department of Justice’s decision to close the Jeffrey Epstein case. The disappointment came amid significant wins for the Trump administration, including increasing the deficit by $3 to $5 trillion, bombing Iran, capping taxes on tips at $25,000, and promises of amnesty.
Shane Gillis took a shot at the President with a joke

Gillis made a joke about the Epstein files disappearing somehow, and started his joke with a nod to the Jan. 6 debacle that put the life of Vice President Mike Pence in jeopardy.
“Donald Trump wants to stage a UFC fight on the White House lawn. The last time he staged a fight in D.C., Mike Pence almost died. You don’t have to do that,” Gillis said of people clapping in the audience. “I didn’t write that (joke).”
“Actually, there was supposed to be an Epstein joke here, but I guess it got deleted. Probably deleted itself, right? Probably never existed, actually. Let’s move on as a country and ignore that.”

It’s unclear if the country can ignore that, and if Trump can continue to pretend there was an “Epstein hoax.”
“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘(expletive),’ hook, line, and sinker,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.”
