An NFL insider explained why he thought the Baltimore Ravens should complete a trade for the New York Giants’ top offensive weapon this season.
Running back Saquon Barkley has been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks. Barkley has stated publicly he wants to stay in New York. However, their 2-5 record should have the Giants management considering all options at the Oct. 31st deadline.
One potential trade partner for Barkley would be the Ravens. The Ravens are reportedly looking at running backs in the trade market after they lost their RB1, J.K. Dobbins, in Week 1. The Ravens are reportedly the “most interested” team in trading for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.
Orlovsky: The Baltimore Ravens offense needs Barkley
However, Dan Orlovsky with ESPN has another idea for the Ravens. He said on ESPN’s “Get Up” Thursday that the Ravens would be a lock to play the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game should they pull off a trade for Barkley:
“You might as well book the plane from Baltimore to Kansas City for the AFC title game ’cause that’s how good that football team would be [with Barkley],” Orlovsky said. “Cause Baltimore is tremendous even without Saquon Barkley.”
Orlovsky said Barkley would fit nicely into the best passing scheme since Lamar has been with the Ravens. He said the run-pass-option hasn’t been effective without Dobbins and that the Ravens could run it again with Barkley on the team.
Barkley on the Ravens would be fun to watch. Unfortunately for fans in the NFL, that is unlikely to happen. The Giants have reportedly ruled out rumors of a trade happening before the deadline. Instead, we’ll have to watch a talented Barkley waste away with Daniel Jones and the Giants.
