Last year’s devastating 42-27 loss against Michigan or as Buckeye fans call them, “The Team Up North,” snapped a 9-game winning streak. The last time the Buckeyes lost to “The Team Up North” was a decade ago in 2011. The win streak was at nine because the two teams did not meet in 2020 because of a COVID outbreak. This year, Ohio State will be seeking revenge against “The Team Up North.”
The Wolverines dominated from start to finish
The loss last year certainly stung and left a bitter taste in the mouths of all the players. The Wolverines manhandled the Buckeyes from start to finish. The Wolverines had 297 yards rushing averaging 7.2 yards a carry. Running back Hassan Haskins led the way with 169 yards rushing. The Buckeyes meanwhile could not run the ball and only mustered 63 yards on 23 carries. The only saving grace for the Buckeyes was the passing game. C.J. Stroud passed for 394 yards and two touchdowns. But time and again, they would try to run the ball and would come up short.
The way the team lost will certainly add fuel to the fire for the next matchup and the team has already spent the offseason preparing for the next season and game. The score of the game is posted around the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility reminding the team of the loss. Everyone is going to have to step up and take it to another level. The entire offseason and the rest of the summer will be spent preparing for the game.

Wolverines fans and players have been talking since the win
Wolverine fans and players of course have been talking since the game and have created some hard feelings. Former Michigan player Desmond Howard commented at the Heisman Trophy ceremony that Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett was doing a better job standing between C.J. Stroud and Wolverines defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. This of course was a dig at the Buckeyes offensive line who allowed four sacks during the 2021 game. Since the game, “The Team Up North” has been very confidant in their abilities and believe they will never lose to the Buckeyes again. Quarterback JJ McCarthy of the Wolverines said, “All we know is beating Ohio State right now. So we’re going to keep that going.” It would be no surprise to find those comments posted all around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center for everyone to see. I’m sure JJ McCarthy will regret those words come November.
The Buckeyes should be extra motivated this offseason and should be ready to face “The Team Up North” this coming November. All the players will be more experienced and will certainly remember the last game. More players like Marvin Harrison Jr. or Julian Fleming are expected to take a big step this year and make big contributions. Hopefully come November 29th, the Buckeyes will be seeking revenge against the “Team Up North” and come out on top with a victory.
