The Seattle Seahawks Release an offensive lineman

The Seattle Seahawks got the focal point of their offseason taken care of earlier this week. The team came to terms with quarterback Geno Smith after a successful 2022 campaign. The Seahawks freed up some cash on Thursday before next week’s free agency period.

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Seahawks released offensive guard Gabe Jackson. The cut will clear $6.5 million for the Seahawks’ cap space.

Jackson was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He’s spent the previous two seasons, where he’s started in 31 regular season games.

The Seahawks can use the spending to improve the roster for next season. The Seahawks made a surprise playoff run after they traded Russell Wilson last offseason. The team needs a few pieces to be an NFC contender. According to Over The Cap, the Seahawks now have about $30 million in cap space ahead of next week’s free agency period.
