“Really Fortunate”: Seattle Seahawks High Draft Avoids Significant Injury

Seattle Seahawks rookie offensive lineman Grey Zabel suffered an apparent knee injury in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Rams after a teammate rolled up on his left leg. With the assistance of the medical staff, the first-round pick limped off the field, went to the medical tent, and did not return for the remainder of the game. Zabel underwent an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

During Monday’s press conference, Mike Macdonald provided a positive injury update on Grey Zabel, as reported by John Boyle of the team’s website. The head coach said the left guard avoided a significant injury against the Los Angeles Rams. Zabel is considered day-to-day, and it’s unclear if he will miss Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans.

Christian Haynes will take over as the starting left guard if Grey Zabel is sidelined. The former third-round pick began his second season on injured reserve due to a pectoral injury sustained in late August. The Seahawks activated Haynes on Saturday, making his regular-season debut in Week 11 and playing the final ten snaps there.
