The Seattle Seahawks are less than one week away from taking on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60. The biggest game of the year will be played in Santa Clara, CA. Now, it looks like Seattle could have one more player suiting up that they weren’t expecting.
Breaking News: Seahawks Add To Super Bowl 60 Roster With Surprise Reinforcement

The Seattle Seahawks have activated linebacker Chazz Surratt from injured reserve, the team announced today, clearing him to play in Super Bowl 60 against the New England Patriots on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium.
Surratt, 28, suffered a hamstring injury in Week 12 of the 2025 regular season and was placed on IR shortly after.
Surratt’s Role and Impact Potential
A former fifth-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2021, Surratt has played in 52 career games (5 starts) across Vikings, Jets, and Seattle. In, he has primarily been a special teams ace and depth linebacker. Getting him back will be a huge boost for the special teams, which plays directly into field position.
His return bolsters Seattle’s linebacker depth where the Seahawks like to use nickel and dime looks against the Patriots’ pass-heavy attack led by rookie QB Drake Maye.
The move comes at a critical time: Seattle enters Super Bowl 60 as 4.5-point favorites. Surratt’s special teams value alone makes him a key addition for kick coverage and return units.
Fan Reactions on X: Relief and Optimism
Seahawks fans reacted positively to the news:
- “Chazz Surratt back for the Super Bowl? Huge. Special teams just got a lot better.”
- “Macdonald getting his depth back right before the big one. Perfect timing.”
- “Surratt activated = more speed on defense and ST. Seahawks D about to swarm Maye.”
- “Love seeing Chazz get this chance. He’s been a pro through the injury. Let’s get him a ring!”
- “From IR to Super Bowl roster in weeks — that’s the kind of grit we need.”
The activation does not affect Seattle’s injury report status for the game; Surratt is expected to be full-go barring any setbacks in practice this week.
Super Bowl 60 kicks off Sunday, February 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
This is a developing Super Bowl week story. Stay tuned for final injury reports and any last-minute roster moves.
